A MAN admitted to owning hundreds of indecent images of children.

Leon Pinchin, 42, of John Street, Utkinton, Tarporley, pleaded guilty to all charges involving indecent pictures of children and a banned picture during his appearance in Chester Magistrates’ Court on Friday November 5.

Continuing, Michael O’Kane said police were made aware of an indecent image of a child that was posted to the ChatStep web chat room, which they attributed to Pinchin’s address.

Officers attended the address and seized all devices.

A total of 414 indecent images of children were found on Pinchin’s computer, nine of which were classified as Category A, the most serious category, five as Category B, and 400 as Category C.

An indecent Category C image had been distributed from the computer to ChatStep and Pinchin agreed that it was “most likely him” who had uploaded this image.

There was also a forbidden image.

The footage was collected between 2008 and October 2018, when Pinchin was arrested.

Pinchin had no previous convictions.

Defending himself, Peter Barnett agreed the case would go to Chester Crown Court for sentencing and requested that a pre-sentence report be compiled in the meantime.

Pinchin was released on bail and asked to appear in Chester Crown Court on December 3. He has been the subject of an Interim Sexual Injury Prevention Order (SHPO) that prevents him from coming into unsupervised contact with children and he must not use any device capable of accessing the Internet without bringing them to their attention. available to a police officer for inspection at any time.
